BACP Counselling and Psychotherapy Awards 2009 - Excellence in Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice Award

We wrote to various professionals who had interacted with us over the years to share their experience of Parivarthan. These are a few of the letters received by us.

Kiran Rao
Consultant Clinical Psychologist & Former Professor and Head of Department of Mental Health & Social Psychology, NIMHANS, Bangalore

“ The training program for counselors is one of its kind in India. At a time when training programs and counseling services have mushroomed in the country due to lack of proper regulation and monitoring, PARIVARTAN set it’s own benchmark of maintaining the higest standards, It is careful in the selection of traineees, making them undergo a basic skills program as a prerequisite.
PARIVARTAN is making a significant contribution to the community at large by sharing its knowledge and skill base with other Non-Governmental Organisations, academic institutions and service providers. This is important in an area where the demand-supply gap is huge and the number of trained professionals are unlimited.” Read more...

In catering to both beginning and advanced clinicians and trainees both nationally and internationally, Parivarthan has established itself as a solid training site and counselling center. “ Read more...

Not only does Parivarthan require certain standards in training for it’s staff, it also creates opportunities for others in the community to gain training. I had the good fortune to participate in the Life Skills Program, Interpersonal Communication and Listening Skills and a part of the Basic Skills in Counselling. Both programs are grounded in concrete research and theory.” Read more...

“ The Course content was extremely detailed and the topics covered gave me a well rounded understanding of Counselling. I would rate it on par with the best available anywhere.

  • VIVEK SAXENA
Counsellor-in-training, Basic Skills in Counselling (2008-09)
“Parivarthan has done a great job of adapting counseling training to Indian settings. …… it has given me a really sound perspective on the core skills, theory and practices. It is designed to cater to diverse styles of learning and backgrounds…..
I’d like to point out Parivarthan’s social leadership in an environment where in general, most education centers operate with the primary perspective of increasing their revenue. Parivarthan does not aggressively “sell” counselling. Their fee operates on a sliding scale to enable the less privileged to also gain.” Read more...

But the downside of my Parivarthan experience - no where else has ever, any where  nearly matched up to them!! Read more...

COUNSELLING SERVICES:

  • HARITHA SARMA
Sr. Programme Executive, Human and Institutional Development Forum(HIDF), Bangalore
“ …. I would like to thank Parivarthan for the exemplary service it is providing. In a fast changing society like ours, where traditional ways and means of supporting individuals in the time of crisis are rapidly disappearing, I feel organisation like yours is critical for the well being of society.
…. I found Parivarthan a meaningful place to interact. After getting frustrated and demoralised to an extent by counselors who are prescriptive and judgemental, I feel the support received in Parivarthan is of totally different quality.
Another aspect I like about Parivarthan is affordability of services.”  Read more...

OUTREACH:

  • Valli Rammohan,ASHRAYA (Children’s Home)
    Indiranagar, Bangalore
“ Ashraya has used Parivarthan for counselling for many of our Projects like the Children’s Home and the Government Boys Observation Home.
The Government Observation Home is a place that houses young boys in conflict with the law. It was incredibly difficult finding Kannada-speaking counsellors who were willing to commit themselves to a long-term project. Without Parivarthan’s help, we could never have exposed the boys to the benefits of long term counselling. Read more...

Parivarthan has grown since those days of yore, with many, many more people accessing their services in counselling and training, as they have continued to keep “quality” as their watchword in all their endeavours.” Read more...
