 RUN TO HELP OR HELP TO RUN
Sunfeast World 10K Bangalore was launched in 2008 and within the short span of two years has become one of the world’s premier 10K and charity events.
This year Parivarthan will be one of the participating charities in the marathon. Participation in this event will be of two kinds-one the Majja Run for competitors who want to run a shorter (but equally demanding) 5.7 km route and the Open 10km Run. We reques t you to help us raise funds by either directly participating in the event or sponsoring runners for the event.
All proceeds will go towards the set-up up of a Child Protection Helpline. This helpline will provide an accessible and confidential service where professional counsellors will be able to aid children and adolescents in distress. It will provide assistance to children and adolescents who are subjected to emotional, physical or sexual abuse and are facing traumatic and stressful situations. Children in these situations may be reluctant to come forward to family or friends due to fear that:
- people may not believe them
- they may not get support or empathy
- they may not be loved
- they may be blamed
- it may lead to further abuse
The Child protection Helpline, therefore, will provide a much needed service. The helpline will also be available to adults looking for support in dealing with children in distress.
Your contribution could help a child in need receive the help they require from experienced and skilled professionals. Registration for the marathon opens on the 26th of March and closes on the 30th of April 2010.
